Hanson Curran LLP is known for its experience and competency defending complex, often sensitive, cases. Typically, complex litigation involves large numbers of parties and issues which are not frequently encountered by most trial attorneys. They often require managing a large volume of defendants, researching one-of-a-kind legal issues, retention of experts and complying with detailed pretrial management orders. Generally, these are cases with serious exposure to the client.
Recently, we have represented the landlord/property owner in the Station Fire Litigation involving hundreds of plaintiffs and dozens of defendants. We successfully argued that the U.S. District Court apply the newly adopted Multiparty, Multiforum Trial Jurisdiction Act (28 USC § 1369) to impose single court jurisdiction and management over the case. We also were the first firm to negotiate a settlement in principle for our client through complex mediation.
Hanson Curran LLP also represents religious denominations and national youth organizations in defense of sexual abuse cases against institutional defendants. Additionally, we successfully resolved six personal injury cases against a nursing home in receivership.
Similarly, Hanson Curran LLP was retained as local counsel to defend and try a complex environmental insurance coverage case and is currently involved in defending several product liability cases which are national in scope. |
